Save the date: Artigianato e Palazzo May 13th-15th


ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO is a three days exhibition of approximately 80 craftsmen who recreate their workshops in the beautiful historic formal italian garden and orangeries surrounded by hundreds of lemon trees in terracotta pots and II C.a.d. statues. In these “botteghe” the craftsmen will work and show their skill and secrets explaining ancient and preserved techniques of making bronze, wood, glass, iron, paper, marble objects. This exhibition has been organized since 1995 by Neri Torrigiani and backed by the Princess Giorgiana Corsini with the purpose of promoting the ancient work of the artisans and to show as many guilds as possible from gold leafing to jewel making, from printing to pottery, from scents to hat making, from restoration of marble inlaid furniture to glass making.

To understand and know more this world ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO has producted -in collaboration with the Foundation for the arts and crafts of Florence- the exhibition of photographs from Juri Ciani “Mani che raccontano”: 15 portraits of some of the protagonists of most high handedness immortalized as they work in their shops, magical places and full of charm, where you have secrets that have made Florence capital of crafts, famous and unique in the world.

On the last day, Sunday 15th, the “Perseo Prize” will be given by the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze to the most appreciated craftsmen chosen by the visitors.

Valuable, as now many editions, will be supported by the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze and collaborating with OmA-Osservatorio dei Mestieri D’arte.

FREE GUIDED TOURS of the historic garden (1625) are run by the Cultural association Città Nascosta.

A traditional restaurant “Under the lime trees” will offer home made and family cuisine under marqueese as well as drinks, teas and delicious snacks of tuscan flavour.

The catalogue of the exhibition is included with the entrance price.
